Alysia & Steven - August 23, 2008

Steven & Alysia were living in Ohio, and Steven's mother Karla planned most of the wedding in about 3 months! The Reception was at the Bristol Harbor Inn, and Red was the color of the evening! We actually got to meet with the couple twice, it was hectic for them, but we got to know their musical style. And now, they are off to live in Dubai! We meet the coolest people!

The flowers were by Floral Symphony of Bristol (who did the flowers for our wedding!), and the cake by The Cake Gallery in Bristol (Paul made our cake, too!). And then, there was the fabulous DJ!!

Here are their songs:
1. Bridal Party Introduction: You’re My First, My Last By Barry White
2. Song For Bride & Groom Intro: Eye Of The Tiger
3. Song For First Dance: Something About The Way You Look By Elton John
4. Father/Daughter Dance: Butterfly Kisses By Bob Carlisle
5. Mother/Son Dance: Wind Beneath My Wings By Bette Midler
6. Cake Cutting: Pour Some Sugar On Me – Def Lepard
7. Anniversary Dance: Remember When By Alan Jackson
8. Last Dance Of The Evening: Wonderful Tonight

Not Wedding Related - New Niece!

OK, so it's not a wedding, but it's a pretty important event! Our new niece was born last Tuesday night. She's perfect, she's sweet, and we love her! Here's a pic from Sunday, 5 days old! I think she looks really smart, too.

Her name is Maya Alexandra, and she is the daughter of my brother Andrew and his wife Elissa. Yay!

Barbara & Sean - August 16, 2008

There's this amazing reception site tucked away in Rehoboth, MA. I don't think I've ever seen an advertisement for them, but they are booked every weekend! Maybe they tell people NOT to talk about it, but I'll tell you...it's called Five Bridge Inn. It's a B&B as well, and they do one wedding per weekend. The grounds are gorgeous, and the wedding includes the rooms at the inn for one night's stay!

Cocktails were by the pool, then the reception started in the tent with introductions and toasts. Dinner was by Ralph's Catering. Yummy! The bride and groom are both teachers, so it was fun to watch the guests pull up in a school bus!! They were a little rowdy, but what can you do!

Barbara and Sean chose "Lady In Red" for their first dance - we were stumped at first, but she assured us we would see why on the wedding day. Maybe you can see the red in her dress. Her bridesmaids were in red and navy, and the cake was "to-die-for", made by Borrelli's Bakery of Coventry.

This was our largest wedding of the summer - 230 people! Here are their songs:

1. Parents Introduction: All You Need Is Love – The Beatles
2. Bridal Party Entrance: Beautiful Day –U2
3. First Dance: Lady In Red – Chris Deburgh
4. Mother/Son Dance: My Wish – Rascall Flatts
5. Anniversary Dance: What A Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong
6. Cake Cutting: Traditional
7. Garter Removal/Toss: Baby Did A Bad Thing – Chris Isaak
8. Bouquet Toss: Crazy – Gnarles Barkley
9. Putting On Garter: Legs – ZZ Top
10. Last Song Of The Evening: Sweetest Thing – U2

And some photos:

Pleeeeze, Mr. DJ, play my song!

Raina & Matt - August 9, 2008

Well, by now they are off on their honeymoon to Bora Bora. We really enjoyed getting to know Raina & Matt, they are a lot of fun! Their reception was held at the Blithewold Mansion in Bristol. Catering was by Plantation Catering of Newport. It was a beautiful night, gorgeous weather!

They didn't have a lot of formalities, they just wanted to DANCE! One thing we liked was that for the parent dances, they had ALL the fathers/daughters and mother/sons at the wedding get up and dance with them. There was one father/daughter team where the daugher was a little baby. Too cute!
Here are their songs:

Introduction Music: LET MY LOVE OPEN THE DOOR by Pete Townsend
First Dance Song: In a Little While by U2
Father/Daughter Dance: Father & Daughter by Paul Simon
Mother/Son Dance: Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (IZ)

Wow, 3 Bose systems!

Kevin & Sarah - August 3, 2008

Ahhh, Astor's Beechwood Mansion! Just a summer cottage for the Astor family long ago, but a huge thrill for us! Sarah & Kevin planned a fun, but elegant ceremony and reception at Astor's from New Hampshire. They fell in love with Newport, and invited all their guests to join them there for the wedding.

It was a "picture perfect" day, with a few white clouds in the pretty blue sky, and the waves crashing just beyond Cliff Walk. The ceremony had the guests facing the ocean, and we provided sound via our battery powered speaker, with microphone for the priest. Music was by Emily Chen, a string trio. Beautiful!

The ballroom was beautifully decorated, and the Astor's staff impeccable, the wedding includes butlers and doormen. Especially Patrick, who performs with the staff during the day and oversees the weddings by night, and Pat, who oversees the ceremony. And with catering by Blackstone, who could ask for more?

They danced the night away! Sarah and Kevin took lessons, and it certainly showed! They wowed their guests by learning choreography for both their first and last dances! The whole evening was another case of "if the bride and groom are on the dance floor, that's where EVERYONE will want to be!" They danced and danced, young and old alike! There's so much great music out there to please all ages, and we strive to get them all out there!

Here are their songs:

1. BRIDAL PARTY ENTRANCE: SWAY by Pussycat Dolls
2. FIRST DANCE: COULD I HAVE THIS KISS FOREVER by Whitney Houston
3. CAKE CUTTING: RECIPE FOR LOVE by Harry Connick, Jr.
4. ANNIVERSARY DANCE: AFTER ALL THESE YEARS by Journey
5. REMOVAL OF GARTER: SHE’S GOT LEGS by ZZ Top
6. TOSSING OF BOUQUET: THIS ONE’S FOR THE GIRLS by Martina McBride
7. LAST DANCE: MY WISH by Rascal Flatts
8. LAST SONG OF NIGHT LAST DANCE by Donna Summer

Maggie & Gideon August 2, 2008

Maggie called us from NYC, she got our name from Weddingwire.com (a great website for brides, where you can read lots of vendor reviews).

She is a doctoral candidate, and he is in a Broadway Show, so neither had much time to plan. The wedding was held in Dartmouth, MA, on a private estate. The tent was set up on the (ho hum) croquet court! Maggie and family spent their summers at a nearby cottage, and wanted to share this special place with their friends.

It was a stormy day, and we were nervous, but the clouds parted and the sun came out just as everyone arrived. Isn't that just perfect? Is it because of the wedding? We think so!

We worked with a great caterer from Westport, don't be decieved by the name. NE Clam Jams is run by a neat lady named Linda, and the food was great, the ideas fresh, and the staff delightful! They specialize in local, native produce and natural ingredients. Everything was cooked (grilled) on site. Oh, and the fresh baked berry pie for desert....all I can say is "wow".

The evening was lots of fun, with Maggie's Dad taking over MC duties for a bit, introducing people and telling stories. Glenn asked him if he was looking for work, ha ha. (I doubt it, he's a New York City attorney!) Not a lot of formalities, just family, friends, good food and dancing. More and more brides and grooms want that these days, and we are happy to oblige!
Here are some pics:

FIRST DANCE: IT HAD TO BE YOU – HARRY CONNICK, JR.
SONG FOR BOTH PARENT DANCES: ONLY A PAPER MOON by ELLA FITZGERALD
LAST SONG: GOODNIGHT SWEETHEART – SPANIELS

Stephanie & Dan - July 27, 2008

Stephanie & Dan live in Bristol, but just fell in love with The Towers in Narragansett. So, off we went!

One big story that day (a least from our point of view) was the weather. We encountered extreme rain on the way there, and then managed to get all the equipment into the building without incident. We got there REALLY early so we wouldn't be in the way of catering. Once inside, we saw spectacular lightening out over the ocean. It was amazing to be in that location and watch the storm (after setup of course!)

The rain stopped for the guests' arrival, thank goodness. I don't think they cared about the weather, though, this group was ready for fun!

One musical note: we really liked Stephanie's wedding party entrance idea. She had the women come in to one song, then the men to anther (see below). Here's my favorite thing that happened....I usually line everyone up for introductions. The two flower girls were to walk in together, but one of them came right up to me and told me that she was walking in alone, and then her sister behind her. They wanted their own intro! I didn't hesitate to accommodate (after checking with the bride, of course). Hey, we go with the flow!

We also had the chance to work with one of our favorite caterers, Simply Devine Catering of Barrington. They are exceptional - the food, the staff - and well, we are partial to husband and wife teams!!! Go Janet & Paul!

Here's some fun pictures from the night:

Bridal Party Women: If You Wanna Be Happy – Jimmy Soul
Bridal Party Men: Boys Are Back In Town – Thin Lizzy
Bride & Groom Entrance: Right Now – Van Halen
First Dance: Better Together – Jack Johnson
Cake Cutting: When I’m 64 – The Beatles
Father/Daughter Dance: Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong
Mother/Son Dance: My Wish – Rascal Flatts
Last Dance Bride & Groom: She’s Got A Way – Billy Joel
Last Dance Of Evening: River Of Dreams – Billy Joel

Jenn & Jamie - July 26, 2008

Jenn & Jamie met on July 26, got engaged on July 26, and got married on July 26! How cute is that!

The reception was at Quidnessett Country Club, where we were also lucky enough to work with the ladies from Couture Bridal. Our hats off to both, they work so hard!

We met twice to talk about music, and since Jenn is a huge Bon Jovi fan, you can guess their first dance! They chose different songs for each group's entrance, and each really fit them. I liked the last dance - "Good Riddance" by Greenday. "We hope you had the time of your life" was a great ending to the night.

We hope it sent these two off on a wonderful life together!

Grandparents Entrance: I’m Too Sexy – Right Said Fred
Parents Entrance: That’s Amore – Frank Sinatra
Bridal Party Entrance: Theme From Hawaii 5-O
Flower Girl/Ring Bearer: Peanuts Song – Linus & Lucy
Bride & Groom Entrance: You Spin Me Round – Dead Or Alive
First Dance: All About Lovin’ You – Bon Jovi
Father/Daughter Dance: My Little Girl – Tim McGraw
Mother/Son Dance: You Raise Me Up – Josh Groban
Cake Cutting: Jamie’s CD
Last Dance Bride & Groom: My Best Friend – Tim McGraw
Last Dance of the Evening: Good Riddance – Greenday

Shades of Purple..and notice the gobo on the back wall. Cool!

Fun Dancers...

Gorgeous cake!

Erik & Jodi - July 13, 2008

Glenn and I travelled to Boston for Erik & Jodi's wedding on July 13. We were GUESTS!!! What a treat! Erik is an engineer friend of Glenn's from a past work life, and Jodi is a teacher in the Boston area. The wedding and reception were held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, MA. Fancy! We treated ourselves to an overnight stay, took a boat ride on the Charles, and danced the night away! Here are a few pics:

The view from our room!

The flowers were incredible!

The cute couple:

Yes, it was open bar...

The colors were Tiffany blue and chocolate brown, great colors for candy:

The cake was by Konditor Meister, and they used our candy buffet jars (and then some!) I am not sure of the name of the band, will have to re-post. It was great to see a wedding from the other point of view, it really helps us keep perspective!
